What are you doing for the
rest of your life?

There is a question we like to ask ourselves and ask prospective students at Tai Sophia Institute. The question is, “What are you doing for the rest of your life?” It’s a provocative idea to stop and think about what it is we want to accomplish in the years we’re here. And, yes, the answers can get philosophical. “I want to be the best person I can be,” is one we hear. Another is, “I want to change the way things are.” And, “I want my life to be about something more than what it is today.”

There are thousands of answers and, of course, none of them are wrong. Often people talk about reaching higher, doing more, contributing in some way to the greater good, being more fulfilled in their own life and being a healing presence to others. The words are different but the sentiment is often the same.

So that is our mission together; to make it all possible. This is a school, a learning community. We are here to share and grow. We are here to help our students go out and play as big as they dare to in the world whether it’s in the profession they’ve already chosen or a new one that is calling their name. Depending upon their field of interest our students leave armed with clinical skills, business skills and most importantly communication skills to be catalysts of change in whatever domain they are a part of.

Our name, Tai Sophia, represents the meeting point of the ancient healing traditions from the East and West; the Chinese word Tai means “great” and the Greek word Sophia means “wisdom.” Together, the two words – great wisdom – serve as the foundation of our mission and the root of all of our programs and services.

The ongoing achievement of wellness in our lives, in our families, in our community, in the world...that’s our mission together.
