The Herbal Dispensary at Tai Sophia Institute is a unique and valuable resource of the
Herbal Medicine Program. The Dispensary provides the tools and space for students to get hands-on experience creating, formulating, and compounding herbal preparations. In addition, the Dispensary is a source of high-quality custom compounded formulations produced on site for clients of the Herbal Medicine Faculty-Student Clinics, Herbal Practitioners in the Institute's clinic, and clients of alumni.

Companies that serve as our suppliers are researched and chosen on the basis of Tai Sophia's herbal medicine faculty and staff's evaluation of their products' quality and efficacy.

Please take into consideration that Herbal Dispensary staff cannot diagnose, treat, nor make recommendations to the public regarding herbs.  It is advised that one make an appointment to see an herbalist registered to use the Tai Sophia Herbal Dispensary.

Services

Herbal teas, powders and liquid extracts are custom-compounded in the Herbal Dispensary according to the unique specifications of practitioners who have tailored these products to their clients' individual needs. 

When requesting a refill on a custom compound order, be sure to verify that your refill date is current.  If your refill date has expired, please contact your practitioner before requesting a refill with the Dispensary.  Orders with an expired refill date cannot be filled without the practitioner’s authorization.

Generally it takes 15 - 20 minutes to prepare compounds for clients.

The Dispensary carries professional grade prepackaged supplements only.  Since these items are available behind the counter, they can only be sold to clients who have received a recommendation from a registered practitioner.

Payment & Shipping Policy

All custom compounds must be prepaid before preparation. Orders shall be completed and ready for pick-up no later than the end of the following Herbal Dispensary business day from when the order is placed (if an order is called in on Friday it may not be available until Tuesday evening). Payments may be made over the phone prior to preparation and pick-up. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. We accept cash, check or credit card (Visa and Master Card only) as forms of payment.  After Herbal Dispensary hours, orders may be arranged for pick up at the Clinic Reception desk.

The Dispensary offers shipping by way of the United States Postal Service.  To determine shipping and handling costs, please contact the Herbal Dispensary.
